We launched our Energy Wheel program earlier this year and there has been huge interest in the resources we created. We wanted to continue to provide even more guidance, therefore our next webinar’s theme is ‘What is Energy Based Safety?’ presented by Jon Harper-Slade, GM Health and Safety Innovation CHASNZ. Jon pioneered the establishment of CHASNZ Trust and is an executive leader specialising in health, safety and environment (HSE).

If you can’t identify the hazard, then you don’t know how exposed you are or how to control it. Hazards can have enough energy to seriously harm or kill you. Direct controls are the strongest and preferred form of control when dealing with a high energy hazard.  Alternative Controls are necessary when no direct controls are available.

Within this presentation there will be discussion outlining:

  • What controls should be used when dealing with high energy hazards.
  • Examples with what we see and what we miss.
  • Why some hazards are easy to identify while others are often overlooked.
  • Measuring and monitoring.

There are 10 different categories of energy and potential ‘high’ energy hazards, direct controls, and alternative controls associated with each hazard. The 10 categories are within the green energy wheel below.

Take advantage of this webinar (no fee to attend) and the chance to learn more about ‘Energy Based Safety’ on Thursday 5th September at 12pm to 1pm.
