SiteSafe has produced 'Suicide in New Zealand’s Construction Industry Workforce: Factors Identified in Coronial Reports (2019)'. Site Safe decided that this report needed to be done to help understand a problem that is prevalent in our industry. This important piece of research adds to the current body of knowledge around suicide in New Zealand, and will further inform and support future construction specific prevention programmes.The purpose of the study was to establish a snapshot of factors associated with suicides in the construction industry, according to data found in coroners’ reports over a ten-year period (2007 – 2017). It is hoped that the report stimulates and informs discussions and initiatives around suicide prevention and mental health in the construction sector.
